Cape Willoughby Conservation Park is a special protected area in the Australian state of South Australia. It is found on the north coast of the Dudley Peninsula on Kangaroo Island. The park is about 27 kilometres (17 miles) south-east of a town called Penneshaw. This park helps to protect the natural environment and is a great place to visit.

Where is Cape Willoughby Park?

This park is located on Kangaroo Island, which is a large island off the coast of South Australia. You can find it on the eastern tip of the island, in an area known as the Dudley Peninsula. The park's northern and eastern sides are right along the coastline.

How Old is the Park?

The Cape Willoughby Conservation Park was officially created on 21 January 1971. It was first known as Cape Hart National Park. Later, in 2002, the larger park was divided. This created Cape Willoughby Conservation Park and another park called Lesueur Conservation Park. As of 2016, Cape Willoughby Conservation Park covers an area of 18 hectares (about 44 acres).

What Can You See and Do?

One of the most famous landmarks in the park is the Cape Willoughby Lighthouse complex. This historic lighthouse stands proudly at the eastern end of the park. It offers amazing views of the ocean.

Visitors to the park can enjoy several activities:

• Stay in a Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage: You can even stay overnight in one of the old cottages where the lighthouse keepers used to live. It's a unique way to experience the park!
• Walk the Heritage Hike: There's a walking trail called the Cape Willoughby Lightstation heritage hike. It lets you explore the area around the lighthouse and learn about its history.

The park is managed by the Department for Environment and Water. They work to keep this special place safe for everyone to enjoy.
