Capilano Lake is a large, man-made lake found in British Columbia, Canada. It sits partly in the District of North Vancouver and partly in West Vancouver. This lake is super important because it helps provide clean drinking water for many people in the Greater Vancouver area.

Capilano Lake: A Giant Water Bottle for Vancouver

Capilano Lake is not a natural lake. It was created by people to store water. Think of it like a giant water bottle for the city! About 40% of all the drinking water for Greater Vancouver comes from this lake.

How the Lake Was Made

The lake was formed when the Cleveland Dam was built. This dam holds back the water from the Capilano River, creating the large reservoir we now call Capilano Lake. The southern part of the lake is also part of the Capilano River Regional Park, which is a beautiful area for nature lovers.
