Capron is a village in Boone County, Illinois, United States. It's part of the larger Rockford, Illinois area. In 2020, about 1,395 people lived there.
History of Capron
The oldest building we know of in Capron is the Capron Lutheran Church. It was built a long time ago, in 1844.
Capron used to be called Hebron Station. This was because of the Chicago and North Western Railroad that ran through it. In 1874, the town was renamed Capron. This was to honor Colonel John Capron, an important person who passed away four years later. Capron officially became a village in 1887, meaning it got its own local government.
