Who is Captain 3-D?
The Ancient Battle and a Special Plan
Long, long ago, about 50,000 years, two different groups fought a big war. One group was made up of humanoids, who looked like people. The other group was a race called the Cat People. The Cat People almost completely wiped out the human-like people. Only a few survivors managed to hide in secret underground bases.
A smart humanoid scientist, Professor Five, came up with a clever plan. He wanted one of his people to survive and fight the Cat People in the future. This special person, called "The Chosen One," would be kept safe. They would live in a kind of "two-dimensional half-life" inside a very special book. This book was known as the Book of D.
How Captain 3-D Can Be Released
The Chosen One could only be released from the book for short times. Someone had to wear a special pair of glasses to bring him out. Professor Five trusted this important book to a group of early humans. They promised to guard it carefully.
Soon after, the Cat People found and killed Professor Five and the other humanoids. This left the Chosen One as the very last survivor of his race. But the Cat People also faced a disaster. Their entire continent sank into the ocean, almost destroying them too.
The Hunt for the Book of D
A few Cat People survived and had to hide among regular humans. But they never gave up their dream of taking over the world. They knew that if the Chosen One was released, he could lead humans against them. So, they hunted for the Book of D.
Every time they caught up with the book's guardian and killed them, someone else would quickly move the book to safety. A new guardian would then take over. This went on for thousands of years!
Danny Davis Meets Captain 3-D
In the early 1950s, a strange, injured man stumbled into a book shop. This shop was owned by a teenager named Danny Davis. The man probably thought a book shop was the best place to hide a book. He handed Danny the Book of D and begged him, "Keep this one. Never sell it."
Seconds later, one of the disguised Cat People killed the man. Danny quickly disarmed the attacker, who then ran away.
The Hero Appears!
Danny looked at the mysterious book. Inside, he found a strange pair of glasses. The only other thing in the book was a picture of a man in a strange outfit. Danny put on the glasses and looked at the picture. To his surprise, the man sprang right off the page!
His arrival was perfect timing. More attackers, who looked like gunmen, appeared. They called the man from the book "Captain 3-D." Even though he was outnumbered, Captain 3-D easily defeated the attackers. He then told Danny to look at them through the special glasses. Danny saw that the "gunmen" were actually Cat People!
Captain 3-D told Danny that he was now the new guardian of the Book of D. Danny realized this meant he was now a target, but Captain 3-D promised he wouldn't be alone. After that, Captain 3-D returned to his sleep inside the Book of D, ready to appear again when needed.
Captain 3-D's Amazing Powers
Captain 3-D is the last survivor of his ancient humanoid race. This means he has some incredible gifts! He is much smarter and physically stronger than normal humans. He is fitter, stronger, and faster, though we don't know exactly how much.
He can survive for thousands of years stored safely inside the Book of D. But remember, Captain 3-D can only be released from the book by using the special glasses. These glasses were created by the brilliant Professor Five.
