Capulin is a small community in Union County, New Mexico, United States. It is known as a census-designated place, which means it's a special area counted by the census. In 2010, about 66 people lived there. By 2020, the population was 61.

History
Capulin was not always called Capulin. From 1909 to 1922, it was known as Dedman. This name came from a railroad leader named E.J. Dedman.
Geography
Capulin is very close to a famous landmark called Capulin Volcano National Monument. This monument is only about 5 kilometers (3 miles) north of the community.
The town got its name from the volcano. After the American Civil War, Hispanic settlers moved to the area. They named the town "Capulin" after the volcano.
