Cara Buono (born on March 1, 1971) is an American actress. You might know her best as Karen Wheeler from the popular TV show Stranger Things, which started in 2016. She has also been nominated for an Emmy award for her role as Dr. Faye Miller in the series Mad Men. Another well-known part she played was Kelli Moltisanti in the sixth season of The Sopranos.

About Her Early Life and Education
Cara Buono grew up in the Bronx, a part of New York City. Her family was a working-class family with Italian roots. She has two brothers and one sister.
She went to Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, which is famous for arts. Later, she studied at Columbia University. She finished her college degree in just three years, studying both English and political science. Cara started acting when she was only 12 years old in a play called Spookhouse.
Her Acting Career
Cara Buono began her career acting in plays, both on Broadway and in smaller theaters. She started her film journey in 1992 with the movie Waterland, starring alongside Ethan Hawke.
She has appeared in many independent films, which are movies made outside of the big Hollywood studios. Some of these include Chutney Popcorn (1999) and Happy Accidents (2000). She even helped produce one of her films, Two Ninas (1999).
In 2003, Cara played the mother of Bruce Banner (the main character who becomes the Hulk) in the movie Hulk. She also joined the cast of the TV show Third Watch as paramedic Grace Foster. Later, she appeared in the final seasons of the popular HBO series The Sopranos as Kelli, the wife of Christopher Moltisanti.
One of her most recognized roles was Dr. Faye Miller in the fourth season of Mad Men. Her performance earned her an Emmy nomination in 2011. Since 2016, she has been a main character in the hit Netflix show Stranger Things, playing Karen Wheeler, the mother of Mike and Nancy.

Cara Buono lives in New York City with her husband, Peter Thum. Peter is known for starting Ethos Water, a company that helps provide clean water. They have one daughter together.
