Cardal is a small town in the central part of Uruguay. It's located in the Florida Department.

Where is Cardal?
Cardal is found along Route 77. It's between the towns of Independencia and 25 de Mayo. The town is about 14 kilometers (9 miles) north of Veinticinco de Agosto. It is also about 30 kilometers (19 miles) south of Florida, the capital city of the department.
Cardal's History
The exact date when Cardal started is not fully known. Most people agree it began around 1900. This was when the train station was built there.
Becoming a Town
Cardal's status changed over the years.
- On September 10, 1937, it became a "Pueblo" (village). This was made official by a law called Ley Nº 9.688.
- Later, on January 28, 1985, it was upgraded to a "Villa" (town). This happened because of another law, Ley Nº 15.707.
100-Year Celebration
In the year 2000, Cardal celebrated its 100th birthday. There was a big party that lasted for a whole week!
