Where is Veinticinco de Agosto Located?
This town is found on Route 77. It is about 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) northeast of where Route 77 meets Route 11. A train track from Montevideo also splits here. One part goes towards Salto, and the other goes to Florida. Florida is the capital city of the department.
The Río Santa Lucía river flows along the eastern edge of the town.
What is the History of Veinticinco de Agosto?
Veinticinco de Agosto was first recognized as a new settlement. This happened on September 1, 1875, by a special order. Later, on April 29, 1912, it was officially declared a "Pueblo" (village). This was done by a law called Ley Nº 3.965.
Its status was then raised to "Villa" (town). This change happened on July 5, 1956. It was made official by another law, Ley Nº 12.297.
