Caress is a small, unincorporated community located in Braxton County, West Virginia, in the United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's usually governed by the county.
History of Caress
The community of Caress got its own post office in 1888. A post office is a place where you can send and receive mail. This post office served the community for many years.
However, the Caress post office eventually closed down. It stopped operating in 1954. People believe the community was named after a family of early settlers who lived there.
