Carl Andreas Duker started his career as a teacher. In 1700, he taught history and public speaking. This was at a school in Herborn. A few years later, in 1704, he became a vice-principal. This job was at a school in The Hague.

Later, in 1716, he became a professor. This was at Utrecht University. He taught there for 18 years. After that, he decided to retire. He lived quietly in places like IJsselstein. Carl Andreas Duker studied so much that his health suffered. He became almost blind. He passed away on November 5, 1752, in Meiderich.
