Carl Edward Byrum was born in Olive Branch, Mississippi. This happened on June 29, 1963. He went to high school at Southaven High School in Southaven, Mississippi.

College Football Career

Carl Byrum played college football for the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils. He was on the team from 1982 to 1985. A famous teammate of his was Jerry Rice, who later became a legendary NFL player. Their coach was Archie Cooley.

In 2006, Carl Byrum was honored. He was added to the Mississippi Valley State University Athletic Hall of Fame. This means he was recognized for his great achievements in college sports.

Playing in the NFL

The Buffalo Bills picked Carl Byrum in the 1986 NFL draft. He was the 111th player chosen overall. He played for the Bills from 1986 to 1988. During this time, he played in 41 games. He started in 12 of those games.
