Carla Scaletti (born April 28, 1956) is an American musician and inventor. She is a talented harpist and a composer of music. Carla is also known for creating the Kyma Sound Design Environment. This is a special computer system that helps people design and create sounds. She is the president of Symbolic Sound, the company that makes these tools.

About Carla Scaletti
Carla Scaletti was born in Ithaca, New York. She grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She went to college and earned degrees in music and computer science.
Early Music Career
In the 1970s, Carla was a main harpist. She played in the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra and the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. She also wrote music for regular instruments. Later, she became very interested in making music with computers.
Creating New Sounds
After finishing her studies, Carla worked as a researcher. She explored how computers could make sounds. She then became a professor at the University of Illinois. In 1989, she left the university to start her own company.
She co-founded Symbolic Sound Corporation with Kurt J. Hebel. They created a special computer language called Kyma. This language helps artists and musicians create unique sounds.
Awards and Teaching
Carla Scaletti has written many articles. These articles are about music and technology. In 2003, she received an award from Texas Tech University. This award recognized her important work in music. From 2000 to 2007, she also taught in Paris. She lectured at the Center for the Creation of Music Iannis Xenakis (CCMIX).
