Carlik Anthony Jones (born December 23, 1997) is an American basketball player. He also plays for the South Sudan national team. He is currently a professional player for Partizan Belgrade. This team plays in the Adriatic League and the EuroLeague.
Carlik played college basketball for the Radford Highlanders and the Louisville Cardinals. He joined the South Sudan national team for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Early Life and High School Basketball
Carlik Jones grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. He went to Aiken High School. In high school, he was a great player. As a junior, he averaged 12.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game.
He was named first-team all-Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference. As a senior, he averaged 22.3 points and six assists. He even scored 57 points in one game! He helped his team reach the State final four.
College Basketball Career
Carlik started his college career at Radford. He didn't play his first year, which is called "redshirting." In his first year playing, he was named the Big South Conference Freshman of the Year. He averaged 11.8 points per game.
He made a game-winning three-pointer in the Big South Conference Championship. This shot sent Radford to the NCAA Tournament. In his third year, he was named the Big South Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year. He averaged 20 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game.
After graduating from Radford, Carlik transferred to the University of Louisville. He played one season there. He then decided to become a professional basketball player.
Professional Basketball Journey
After college, Carlik Jones was not chosen in the 2021 NBA draft. But he still got a chance to play. He joined the Dallas Mavericks for the NBA Summer League.
Starting in the G League
He then signed with the Texas Legends. This team is part of the NBA G League, which is like a development league for the NBA. He played very well there. He averaged 20.2 points per game.
NBA Opportunities
Because he played so well, Carlik got short contracts with NBA teams. He signed 10-day contracts with the Dallas Mavericks and the Denver Nuggets. He played a few games for each team.
Becoming an MVP
In 2022, Carlik joined the Chicago Bulls. He also played for their G League team, the Windy City Bulls. He had an amazing season in the G League. In 2023, he was named the NBA G League Most Valuable Player! This is a huge award for a G League player. He was also the top scorer in the G League that year.
After his MVP season, he signed a full NBA contract with the Bulls. However, he was later waived by the team.
Playing Overseas
After leaving the Bulls, Carlik went to play basketball in China. He joined the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in 2023. In 2024, he signed with Partizan in Europe. This team plays in important leagues like the ABA League and the EuroLeague.
Playing for His Country
Carlik Jones was born in America, but he also became a citizen of South Sudan. This allowed him to play for the South Sudan national team. He joined the team for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. This was the first time South Sudan had ever played in the World Cup!
In his first World Cup game, he scored 35 points. He also had 11 rebounds and six assists. In 2024, he played in an exhibition game before the 2024 Olympics. He had 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists against the United States. He was the first player to get a "triple-double" (double digits in three stats) against the U.S. team.
