Carlos Alberto Souza dos Santos, often known as Santos, is a Brazilian football player who is now a coach. He was born on December 9, 1960. Santos played as a midfielder and had a long and successful career, especially in Japan.

A Football Star's Journey

Early Career in Brazil

Carlos Alberto Santos started his professional football journey in Brazil. He played for important clubs like Goiás and Botafogo. He played nearly 200 games in Brazil's top football league, the Campeonato Brasileiro. This showed he was a very skilled and consistent player.

Success in Japan

In 1992, Santos moved to Japan to play for Kashima Antlers. This was a big step in his career. In 1993, he played a key role in helping his team win the first stage of the J1 League championship. Because of his great performance, he was chosen for the 1993 J.League Team of the Year. This award goes to the best players in the league.

After leaving Kashima Antlers in 1995, Santos joined Shimizu S-Pulse. He played there for five and a half years. In 1996, he helped Shimizu S-Pulse win the J.League Cup. He was also named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the J. League Cup that year. This means he was considered the best player in that competition.
