Carlos Blanco's Early Life
Carlos Blanco started speaking when he was just seven months old! By the time he was two, he had already learned to read. When he was eight, he began teaching himself ancient languages, like Egyptian. He went to a local school in Coslada, Spain. In 1997, when he was eleven, he joined the Spanish Association of Egyptology, a group that studies ancient Egypt.
Youngest Egyptologist
In May 1998, Carlos got the highest score in a course on Egyptian hieroglyphs (the ancient Egyptian writing system). Because of this, a Spanish newspaper called El Mundo said he was the youngest Egyptologist (someone who studies ancient Egypt) in Europe and the youngest person in the world to understand hieroglyphs. When he was 12, he became an honorary member of "Fundación Arqueológica Clos" in Barcelona. He even gave his first talks at the Egyptian Museum in Barcelona! The Egyptian Government invited him to visit Egypt, and he received a scholarship to study Arabic in Madrid.
Becoming Well-Known
In 1999, Carlos became very popular in Spain. He appeared on a famous TV show called Crónicas marcianas. On the show, he was called a "superdotado" (which means "highly gifted" or "super talented" in Spanish). Every week, he talked about science, philosophy, history, and politics. He was invited to Egypt again and also traveled to Argentina, where he was interviewed on TV.
