Carlos Blanco (writer) facts for kids
Carlos Alberto Blanco Pérez, born on March 7, 1986, in Madrid, Spain, is a very smart writer and teacher. When he was young, he was known as a "child prodigy" because he learned things incredibly fast. He has written several books and is a member of important groups like the World Academy of Art and Science and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
A Super Smart Kid
Carlos Blanco started talking when he was only seven months old! By the time he was two, he could already read. When he was eight, he began learning ancient languages like Egyptian all by himself. He went to a local school called "C.P. Pablo Neruda" in Coslada.
In 1997, at age eleven, he joined the Spanish Association of Egyptology. This group studies ancient Egypt. The next year, in 1998, he got the best score in a course on Egyptian hieroglyphs. Hieroglyphs are the special pictures used as writing in ancient Egypt. Because of this, a Spanish newspaper called El Mundo said he was the youngest Egyptologist in Europe and the youngest person in the world to figure out hieroglyphs!
Visiting Egypt and TV Fame
When he was 12, Carlos became an honorary member of "Fundación Arqueológica Clos" in Barcelona. He even gave his first talks at the Egyptian Museum in Barcelona. The Egyptian Government invited him to visit Egypt, and he also got a special scholarship to study Arabic in Madrid.
In 1999, Carlos became well-known in Spain because he appeared on a popular TV show called Crónicas marcianas. On the show, he was called a "superdotado" (which means highly gifted). Every week, he talked about science, philosophy, history, and politics. He was invited to Egypt again and also visited Argentina, where he was interviewed on TV.
Studying Around the World
In 2000, Carlos received a scholarship to study at Westminster School in London. There, he became interested in learning Russian, Chinese, and Greek. In 2001, he got another grant to attend lessons at the University of Navarra in Spain. He studied three different subjects at the same time: Philosophy, Chemistry, and Theology! He also continued learning Russian and Chinese.
Carlos has been a member of several important groups, including the International Association of Egyptologists. As of 2009, he studied at Harvard University in the United States. By 2011, he had earned two doctorates, one in Philosophy and one in Theology. Today, he teaches philosophy at the Pontifical University of Comillas in Madrid. He is also a founding member of The Altius Society, a group of young leaders who meet every year at Oxford University.
