Carlos "the Assassin" James, born on February 5, 1972, is a former American football player. He played for ten seasons in the Arena Football League (AFL). He was part of teams like the Iowa Barnstormers, Buffalo Destroyers, New York Dragons, and Tampa Bay Storm. Before playing professionally, he played college football at the University of Iowa. He also went to Rich East High School in Park Forest, Illinois.

Early Life and High School Football

Carlos James started playing football in high school at Rich East High School. He played as both a wide receiver and a defensive back. During his high school career, he caught many passes and also intercepted 18 passes. His great performance earned him "All-State" honors from the Chicago Tribune newspaper.

College Career at Iowa

James continued his football journey at the University of Iowa, playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was a standout player, especially on defense.

Memorable College Moments

In 1991, Carlos was named the Co-Defensive MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the 1991 Holiday Bowl. In that game, he made a crucial play. He intercepted a pass from quarterback Ty Detmer right at the goal line. This important play helped his team secure a 13–13 tie against the BYU Cougars.

All-Big Ten Recognition

In his senior year, 1992, Carlos James received a big honor. He was named to the First Team All-Big Ten. This means he was recognized as one of the best players in the Big Ten Conference.

Professional Football Career

Carlos James had a long and successful career in the Arena Football League (AFL). He played for several teams over ten seasons.

Iowa Barnstormers (1995–2000)

James played for the Iowa Barnstormers from 1995 to 2000. During his time with the Barnstormers, he earned many awards. He was named to the First Team All-Arena twice. He also made the Second Team All-Arena twice. In addition, he was part of the All-Ironman Team twice. The "Ironman" title is given to players who excel on both offense and defense.

Buffalo Destroyers (2001–2002)

After his time with the Barnstormers, Carlos James signed with the Buffalo Destroyers of the AFL. He joined the team on January 12, 2001, and played with them for two seasons.

New York Dragons (2003)

On March 6, 2003, James signed with the New York Dragons, another team in the AFL. He played part of the 2003 season with them.

Tampa Bay Storm (2003–2004)

Later in 2003, on November 18, Carlos James signed with the Tampa Bay Storm. He finished his professional career playing for the Storm.
