Carlyle Deon Mitchell (born August 8, 1987) is a talented footballer from Trinidad and Tobago. He plays as a centre back, which means he helps protect his team's goal. Carlyle plays for the club team Kaya–Iloilo and also represents his country on the Trinidad and Tobago national football team.
Playing for Clubs
Carlyle Mitchell started his football journey in 2008. He joined a team called Joe Public in the TT Pro League, which is the top football league in Trinidad and Tobago.
In 2011, he moved to North America. He signed with Vancouver Whitecaps FC, a team that plays in Major League Soccer (MLS). MLS is the highest level of professional soccer in the United States and Canada. Carlyle played his first game for the Whitecaps in October 2011. In 2013, he was loaned to FC Edmonton, another team that played in the NASL. After the 2014 season ended, he left the Whitecaps.
Mitchell then traveled to South Korea. In December 2014, he signed with Seoul E-Land for their 2015 season.
In 2017, he played briefly for San Juan Jabloteh before moving to India. There, he joined East Bengal, a club in the I-League, which is one of India's top football leagues. He also played in the Calcutta Football League, a regional competition.
Early in 2018, Mitchell joined Central FC. However, he soon left and signed with Indy Eleven on February 12, 2018.
In early 2020, Mitchell moved to the Philippines. He joined Kaya–Iloilo, a team that plays in the Philippines Football League.
Playing for His Country
Carlyle Mitchell first played for the Trinidad and Tobago national team in 2010. He scored his first goal for his country on November 15, 2016. This goal happened during a game against Honduras, which Trinidad and Tobago lost 3–1 in a 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualification match.
