About Carmen Rico Godoy
Carmen was born in Paris, France. Her mother, Josefina Carabias, was also a journalist. Her family had to live outside Spain for a while because of the Spanish Civil War. Her father, who supported a republic, was in prison in Spain until 1944. After he was released, the family reunited in Madrid.
Ten years later, they moved to the United States. There, her mother worked as a reporter. Carmen studied political science at Georgetown University and finished her degree in 1958. In the early 1960s, she lived in Paris and started writing for different newspapers.
After spending some time in Argentina, Carmen moved back to Spain in 1971. She became a co-founder of a popular weekly magazine called Cambio 16.
