Caro Roma (born Carrie Northey, 1866–1937) was an American singer and composer. She was famous for writing popular songs during the "Tin Pan Alley" era. This was a time when many hit songs were created in New York City.

About Caro Roma

Carrie Northey was born in California in 1866, during the exciting time of the gold rush. She started performing on stage when she was only three years old!

She studied music in Boston at the New England Conservatory of Music. As a teenager, she even toured Canada. She conducted an orchestra for a French opera company. Later, she became a main singer, called a "prima donna," with the Henry Savage Opera Company in Boston.

Caro Roma sang opera in the United States and in Europe. She even performed for kings and queens! From a young age, she loved writing songs and poems. She got even better at composing music while she was performing. In 1932, when she was 71, she performed nineteen of her own songs at a concert in Los Angeles. She passed away in California.
