Carol Lynn Maillard (born March 4, 1951) is an American actress, singer, and music writer. She is famous for being one of the first members of the Grammy Award-winning singing group Sweet Honey in the Rock. This group sings a cappella, which means they make music using only their voices.
Carol was in the group from 1973 to 1977. She later rejoined in 1990 and has been a member ever since.

Early Life and School
Carol Lynn Maillard was born and grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She went to the GESU SCHOOL and later graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School.
After high school, she studied theater at The Catholic University of America. She graduated in 1973 with a degree in theater.

On Stage and Screen
Maillard has acted in many different shows. She performed on Broadway in plays like Eubie!, Comin' Uptown, and Beehive. She also acted in shows Off-Broadway and for the New York Shakespeare Festival.
On television, she appeared in Hallelujah! and For Colored Girls Who Have Considered ... When the Rainbow Is Enuf. She was also in movies like Beloved and Thirty to Life. Many of her roles were in stories that celebrate Black culture and history.
Creating Music
Carol Maillard is best known as a founding member of Sweet Honey in the Rock. She has written and arranged many songs for the group. She said the group was created during a time of social change. It was also inspired by new ideas in theater and music.
Sweet Honey in the Rock has been nominated for several Grammy Awards. They won a Grammy for their work on the album A Vision Shared. The group has also won many local music awards in Washington, D.C.
Besides her work with the group, Carol has also sung with other famous musicians, like Horace Silver and Betty Buckley.
Personal Life
