Carol Voges: A Life in Art
Starting His Art Journey
Carol Voges began his art career helping another comics artist named Joop Geesink. He then worked at a famous place called Toonder Studios. There, he helped draw the popular Tom Poes comics.
Drawing for Kids' Magazines
Carol Voges created many drawings and comics for well-known magazines. These magazines included Sjors, Donald Duck, Sesame Street, Bobo, Okki, and Taptoe. His art made these magazines fun for many young readers.
Illustrating Children's Books
Voges was very active at a publishing company called De Eekhoorn. He illustrated many children's novels for them. This means he drew the pictures that went with the stories.
He illustrated books by Henri Arnoldus, such as the Pietje Puk series. He also drew for other popular series like Tup en Joep, Klik en Klak, Pim en Pidoe, Jokkie, and Oki en Doki.
Carol Voges also illustrated books for other authors. He worked on Ans Arnoldus' Tillie en Tiffie series. He also drew for Trix Bakker's Peter en Peet series. His art brought to life Willy van der Heide's Bob Evers series. He also illustrated Bouke Jagt's Edda en Wimmie series.
Famous Comic Strips
One of his most famous works was the comic strip De Avonturen van Pa Pinkelman. This comic appeared in the newspaper De Volkskrant. It was published between November 11, 1945, and 1952. The stories were written by Godfried Bomans. Carol Voges also helped with the TV show based on this story in 1976 and 1977.
Another comic strip he drew was Jimmy Brown, Sportheld nr. 1. This strip was published from 1949 to 1957. It also appeared in De Volkskrant newspaper.
Carol Voges also created illustrations for the covers of sheet music. His work touched many different areas of art and entertainment.
