Carola is a small place in southeastern Butler County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it is a group of homes and businesses that does not have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it is part of the larger county.
Where is Carola?
Carola is located in the southeastern part of Butler County, Missouri. It is about 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) southwest of a place called Oglesville. The border between Missouri and Arkansas is only about 3.5 miles (5.6 kilometers) to the south. The Black River flows right past the west side of Carola.
History of Carola
How Carola Got Its Name
The community of Carola was named after a boat! A group of early German settlers owned this boat, and they decided to name their new community after it.
The Carola Post Office
Carola once had its own post office. It opened in 1882, which was a long time ago! The post office helped people send and receive mail in the area. However, it closed down in 1913.
