The Swampfox Entertainment Complex was a large outdoor concert venue, also known as an amphitheater, located in Marion, South Carolina, United States. It was a place where people could gather to watch live music and other performances.

The venue had over 7,000 permanent seats. There was also extra space on the lawn for more people to sit and enjoy the shows.

Opening and First Events

The complex was empty for some time after 2009. Then, a company called Hartmann Group from Connecticut reopened it on May 8, 2015. Before it was called Swampfox, it was known as the Carolina Amphitheater.

The very first event held at the reopened facility was called the Swamp Fox Biker Bash. This event featured musical performances by Scott Weiland, Molly Hatchet, and The Chimpz.

Why the Complex Closed

The Swampfox Entertainment Complex faced challenges in attracting many events. This was sometimes due to weather problems and other issues.

In 2020, the owner, Robert Hartmann, announced a big change. He decided to remove the amphitheater structure. The plan was to develop the land into a new neighborhood. This community would be designed for older adults and would also include shops and other businesses. A bar that was part of the complex continued to operate until March 2021.
