The Swampfox Entertainment Complex was a large outdoor concert area, also known as an amphitheater, located in Marion, South Carolina. It was a place where many people could gather to watch live shows.
This entertainment spot was empty for several years after 2009. However, a company called Hartmann Group decided to open it again on May 8, 2015. Before this, it was known by a different name: the Carolina Amphitheater. It had space for over 7,000 people to sit in fixed seats, plus more room on a grassy area.

What Was the Swampfox Entertainment Complex?
The Swampfox Entertainment Complex was designed as a place for big events. It was an outdoor venue, meaning it didn't have a roof over the main seating area.
Seating and Capacity
The amphitheater could hold a large crowd. It had 6,909 fixed seats, which are like stadium seats. On top of that, there was extra space on the lawn where people could sit on blankets or stand. This made it a great spot for big concerts or festivals.
History of the Complex
The complex had an interesting journey, from its opening to its eventual closing. It aimed to bring exciting events to the area.
Early Days and First Events
The very first event held at the complex was called the Swamp Fox Biker Bash. This event featured several music groups. Some of the performers included Scott Weiland, Molly Hatchet, and The Chimpz.
Challenges and Closing
Even with its large size, the venue faced difficulties. It was hard to attract many events, partly because of the weather. Outdoor venues can be tricky when it rains or gets too hot.
In 2020, the owner, Robert Hartmann, made an announcement. He decided to remove the amphitheater structure. The plan was to change the property into a new community. This new area would include homes for older adults, along with shops and other facilities. A bar that was part of the complex stayed open a little longer, until March 2021, but then the entire complex closed.
