Caroline Sunshine (born September 5, 1995) is an American who used to be an actress and now works in politics. She is well-known for her role as Tinka Hessenheffer, a fun and sometimes rude exchange student, on the Disney Channel show Shake It Up. Caroline also appeared in the movie Marmaduke and later worked for the White House in 2018.

Caroline's Early Life
Caroline Mohr Sunshine was born on September 5, 1995, in Atlanta, Georgia. She grew up in Orange County, California, with her two younger brothers, Johnny and Christopher. Caroline started learning ballet when she was only three years old. Her first main role was playing Goldilocks in a play when she was in kindergarten. Later, she joined the Orange County Children's Theater and danced in competitions.

Acting Roles and Shows

Caroline Sunshine began acting in theater in 2004. She performed in plays like Annie Warbucks and The Nutcracker. When she was 11, in 2006, she started auditioning for professional roles. Her first jobs were in commercials for toys and snacks like Yoplait Go-Gurt.
In 2010, Caroline filmed a TV show pilot called Team Spitz. That same year, she became famous for her role as Barbara Winslow in the movie Marmaduke. This movie was based on a popular comic strip.
In the fall of 2010, Caroline got her most famous role on the Disney Channel series Shake It Up. She played Tinka Hessenheffer, a European exchange student. Her character had a flashy twin brother named Gunther, played by Kenton Duty. Their characters were inspired by Ryan and Sharpay Evans from the High School Musical movies. Caroline was a recurring character in the first season and became a main character for the second and third seasons. The show finished in November 2013. Caroline also sang on the Disney Channel Christmas album Holidays Unwrapped. Her version of "All I Want for Christmas Is You" was on the album.
After Shake It Up, Caroline appeared in the movie The Outfield in 2015. She also acted in a TV movie called Mommy I Didn't Do It in 2017. After this, she decided to stop acting and start a new career in politics.
Helping Others and Activism
In 2011, Caroline became the spokesperson for a teen perfume called "Puppy Love 4 Girlz." This perfume company helps homeless dogs and puppies by giving part of their sales to animal shelters. In May 2011, Dream Magazine named her one of the "Top 16 Under 16" young people.
Caroline is also involved in many other charity groups. She helps the "Joyful Sewing Organization," which makes blankets for people with cancer. She also supports "Working Wardrobes," which helps women who need jobs or have faced difficult situations. Other groups she helps include the Orange County Child Abuse Prevention Center, the "Adopt A Hero" program for soldiers, the "Loaves and Fishes Ministry" for the homeless, and the "Thirst Project," which brings clean water to communities around the world.
Working in Politics
In January 2018, Caroline Sunshine started working as an intern at the White House during the Trump Administration. By March 2018, she got a full-time job as a press assistant. Before this, Caroline had interned for other political leaders and groups, like the College Republican National Committee.
After her time at the White House, Caroline continued her work in politics. In February 2023, she became the press secretary and communications director for Eric Doden, who was running to be the governor of Indiana. In December 2023, she joined Vivek Ramaswamy's presidential campaign as his press secretary. In June 2024, Caroline was hired again by Donald Trump to be the Deputy Communications Director for his 2024 presidential campaign.

Caroline Sunshine went to Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California. She also graduated from Orange Lutheran High School in Orange, California.
