Carolyn Lee Geise (born September 8, 1935) is an American architect. She designs buildings and helps communities.

She was born Carolyn Lee Deuter in Olympia, Washington. She grew up there and in Seattle. Carolyn first earned a degree in clothing and textiles from Whitman College. Then, she studied architecture at the University of Washington, graduating in 1963. While studying, she even worked at the 1962 Seattle World's Fair!

Her Work and Awards

After college, Carolyn worked for other architects. In 1978, she started her own company, Geise Architects. She became a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 1989. This is a very high honor for architects. In 2001, she received the AIA Seattle Medal.

In 2013, Carolyn received the Housing Hero Award. She got this award for designing homes for people with low incomes. She also designed buildings for the community. Carolyn played a big part in making Seattle's Belltown neighborhood a better place.

Life Outside of Architecture

Carolyn married John Herbert Geise in 1962. They had a son named Matt. Later, she married Bill Jobe, who was an engineer.

Carolyn is also an adventurer! By the age of 27, she had climbed Mount Rainier three times. Mount Rainier is a very tall mountain in Washington state. She also worked as a ski instructor with Jim Whittaker, a famous mountain climber.
