The Carp River is a river in the United States. It is located in the state of Michigan. This river is about 10.3 miles (16.6 kilometers) long. It flows through Gogebic and Ontonagon counties.
Where Does the Carp River Start and End?
The Carp River begins at a beautiful place called Lake of the Clouds. This lake is found in the Porcupine Mountains. These mountains are part of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
From Lake of the Clouds, the river generally flows west and southwest. It then empties into the very large Lake Superior. This happens near the border between Gogebic and Ontonagon counties. The river's mouth is about 604 feet (184 meters) above sea level.
Why is it Called the Big Carp River?
Sometimes, people call this river the "Big Carp River." This helps to tell it apart from another nearby river. That other river is called the Little Carp River.
