Carrasco is a cool neighborhood, or barrio, in Montevideo, Uruguay. It's on the southeast coast of the city.
This area was first known as a fancy seaside resort. Over time, it grew into one of Montevideo's most exclusive suburbs. Carrasco is seen as one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the city. You can find many different building styles here.
Where is Carrasco?
Carrasco is located in a great spot in Montevideo. To its west, it shares a border with Punta Gorda. To the north, you'll find Carrasco Norte.
The Canelones Department is to the east of Carrasco. The beautiful coastline is to the south.
Coastal Features
A part of the main road along the coast in Carrasco is called Rambla Tomás Berreta. Right across from this road is the lovely Carrasco beach.
The main street in Carrasco is named Alfredo Arocena. It was named after the person who founded the area. This street leads right to the beach.
The Carrasco Creek is a small river that forms a natural border. It separates this neighborhood from the Canelones Department.
Schools in Carrasco
Even though there are no universities right in Carrasco, this barrio is home to many great schools. The nearby area of Carrasco Norte also has several schools.

- Uruguayan American School (This school has students from 32 different countries!)
Places to Worship
Carrasco has several places where people can go to worship. These include churches for different faiths.
- Stella Maris Parish Church is a Roman Catholic church. You can find it at Gabriel Otero 6489.
- Parish Church of St. Joseph of the Mountain and St. Teresa of Jesus is another Roman Catholic church. It is run by the Carmelites. Its address is Havre 2179.
- Montevideo Temple belongs to Latter-Day Saints. It is located at Bolonia 1722.
