About The CASA Building
The CASA is a high-rise condominium, which means it's a very tall building with many apartments that people own. It stands at 33 Charles Street East in the heart of Toronto. The building was completed in 2010.
Its Unique Glass Design
The CASA was designed by a company called architectsAlliance. They used a style called New Modernist. This design uses a lot of glass, especially for the outer walls. These glass walls are known as "curtain walls."
The building has balconies that wrap around it from the bottom to the very top. These balconies have clear glass railings. At night, the very top of the building is lit up from underneath. The main entrance area, called the podium, also uses a lot of glass. It is framed with black bricks.
A Popular Place to Live
The CASA quickly became a popular building. In November 2005, it was one of the top three condo buildings for sales in Toronto. The Globe and Mail newspaper reported this on January 13, 2006.
People started moving into their new homes in October 2008. On February 15, 2013, a reporter from The Globe and Mail wrote about a special apartment in the building. This apartment, called a penthouse suite, sold for $2 million.
The CASA Family Grows
On February 26, 2015, Metro News described The CASA as one of the first buildings to change the look of the South Bloor East area. Because The CASA was so successful, two more towers were built nearby.
Casa II
A second tower, called Casa II, was finished in 2016. It is even taller than the first CASA, with 56 floors.
Casa III
A third tower, Casa III, was completed in 2018. Metro News said that Casa III is a very important landmark. You can see it clearly from Yonge Street. These three buildings together form a modern and prominent part of Toronto's skyline.
