Cascade Falls Regional Park is a cool place to visit in the Hatzic Valley of British Columbia, Canada. It's a special park managed by the Fraser Valley Regional District. The park started out as 9.5 hectares (about 23 acres) but has since grown to 22 hectares (about 54 acres)!

You can find picnic tables and restrooms here. There are also different hiking trails and a special walkway that leads to a viewing platform. From this platform, you can get an amazing view of a huge waterfall! It's only about a 15-minute walk from the parking lot to the falls.

What Makes Cascade Falls Special?

This park is famous for its beautiful natural features:

  • A big waterfall that drops 30 metres (about 98 feet)
  • A fun suspension bridge that crosses over Cascade Creek
  • Viewing platforms on both sides of the suspension bridge, perfect for taking photos
  • A 1-kilometre (about 0.6 miles) trail with stairs that winds through a forest of tall evergreen trees
  • Smaller waterfalls that drop 18 metres (about 59 feet) into calm pools below

Where is the Park Located?

Cascade Falls Regional Park is located northeast of Mission, in an area called McConnell Creek. The creek in the park, Cascade Creek, used to be called McConnell Creek. This name came from a logger named Jack McConnell.

Cascade Creek flows into the southeast end of Stave Lake. This lake is southwest of Davis Lake Provincial Park, another great outdoor spot.

History of the Park

The idea for Cascade Falls Regional Park first came up in 1984. After some studies, the park was officially opened on June 7, 1986. It's open every day from 7 AM until sunset, so you can visit any time of the year!

Did You Know?

Cascade Falls was even featured in a movie! It was the setting for the final scene of the film Big Bully. In that scene, characters played by Tom Arnold and Rick Moranis had a fight there.
