Transportation and Trains

The Norfolk Southern railway still uses the old Pennsylvania Railroad line. This line runs between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg.

There is a special spot called the Cassandra Overlook Bridge. This bridge is a great place for people who love trains to watch them go by. It is an old, single-lane iron bridge just for walking. It used to be next to the bridge that carried State Route 53 traffic.

The current Route 53 road was built in 1936. Train fans are always welcome at the overlook. There is even a small hotel in town, the Cassandra Railroad Overlook Motel, that welcomes visitors and train watchers.

Cassandra does not have any traffic lights. Only two streets run through the town. Main Street ends at both sides, so it's a dead-end. Portage Street connects State Route 53 to Main Street.
