In the year 2020, about 100 people lived in Casselman. This makes it a very small community. Casselman is also part of the larger Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Metropolitan Statistical Area, which means it's connected to a bigger group of towns and cities.
History of Casselman
Casselman has an interesting past, especially when it comes to railroads. The very last part of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad line was finished near Casselman on April 10, 1871. This important railway connected the cities of Pittsburgh and Cumberland. The final piece of track was laid close to a spot called Forge Bridge, which later became a small train station just west of Casselman.

Casselman is located at specific geographic coordinates: 39.885828 degrees North and -79.209148 degrees West. This small borough covers a total area of about 0.2 square miles (0.52 square kilometers), and all of it is land.
Casselman is situated right on the bank of the Casselman River. It's also found at the far eastern edge of Upper Turkeyfoot Township. If you look at older maps, you might see "Mineral Point" to the northeast. This was an earlier name for what is now Rockwood.
