Castell de Castells is a small, charming village nestled high in the mountains of the Marina Alta region in southeastern Spain. It's part of the beautiful Costa Blanca area. The village is located right where the Rio Jalón river begins, surrounded by tall mountains. It's a bit hidden away, about 12 kilometers from the closest village, Benigembla, and 20 kilometers from the larger town of Jalón. From here, you can reach the sunny beaches, the Fuentes de Algar waterfalls, and the Terra Mítica theme park in about an hour's drive. Nearby, you can also explore the fascinating caves of Vall d'Ebo and Benidoleig.
The highest point in the Serrella mountain range, called Malla de Llop, reaches over 1300 meters high. This area is perfect for outdoor adventures like walking and mountain biking, with many trails to explore. You can also find the remains of an old Arabic castle, Penya Castellet, which tells stories of the past.
Castell de Castells has a rich history, with signs of three ancient settlements around the village: Pla de Petracos, Bitla, and Pla d'Alt. Some of the ruins from these old settlements are even being rebuilt into modern homes today.

Ancient Art and Natural Wonders
About five kilometers outside the village, in an area known as Pla de Petracos, you can find amazing ancient cave paintings. These paintings are believed to be over 5000 years old! There's a special viewing platform at the archaeological site, and six information panels explain the history and meaning of the paintings. It's like stepping back in time!
Another incredible natural wonder is Els Arcs, a huge natural arch located three kilometers from the village. It's said to be one of the biggest natural arches in Europe, a truly impressive sight formed by nature over thousands of years.

Exciting Fiestas and Celebrations
Castell de Castells knows how to celebrate! The village has several lively fiestas throughout the year, full of music, dancing, and fun.
- San Vicente Ferrer: This celebration happens around Easter time.
- Week of Culture: Starting around July 22nd, this week is packed with activities. You can enjoy music concerts in the village square by the local band "La Primitiva," traditional dancing, and entertainment for all ages.
- Santa Ana: On July 26th, the village celebrates Santa Ana, who is the patron saint of Castell de Castells. It's a big day with a special candlelit procession through the streets in the evening.
- Summer Fiesta: This week-long celebration kicks off around August 12th. It's a typical Spanish fiesta, which means lots of noise, music, and events happening morning, noon, and night. These fiestas often go on late into the night, so a relaxing afternoon nap (siesta) is a good idea, especially when it's hot!
- Pla de Petracos Fiesta: In early September (around the 7th or 8th), the village holds a wonderful fiesta under the old trees in the ancient settlement of Petracos. The trees are decorated with fairy lights, and there's music, food, and dancing all night long. On Sunday morning, a special procession carries the Saint from the village church down the mountain to Petracos. A mass is then held under the trees. Afterward, families gather to enjoy an aperitif before cooking their delicious paellas outdoors, continuing the weekend's festive mood.
