History of Castile
Castile was first settled in 1816. The village officially became a village in 1877. It is thought to be named after the Kingdom of Castile, a historical region in Spain.

Castile is located in western New York state. You can find it at coordinates 42°37′47″N 78°3′17″W / 42.62972°N 78.05472°W.
The village covers a total area of about 1.4 square miles (3.5 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
A main road, New York State Route 39, goes through the village. It runs from the northeast to the southwest. This road also meets New York State Route 19A in Castile.
