On January 1, 2017, Castilly joined with another commune called Isigny-sur-Mer. This means it is no longer a separate commune but is now part of a larger one.

Castilly was situated in the Calvados department, which is known for its beautiful landscapes and historical significance, especially related to World War II. The area is part of the larger Normandy region, famous for its D-Day landing beaches and delicious local products.
