Catherine Elizabeth "Cat" Deeley (born 23 October 1976) is a famous television presenter from England. She is best known for hosting popular TV shows in both the United Kingdom and the United States. Currently, she co-presents the ITV morning show This Morning with Ben Shephard.

Deeley started her career presenting the fun children's show SMTV Live from 1998 to 2002. She even won a BAFTA Children's Award for her work on the show. She also hosted its music chart spin-off, CD:UK. Later, she moved to the United States to host the dance competition show So You Think You Can Dance. Her hosting skills on the show earned her five nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award.

Besides her TV work, Deeley helps charities. She is a patron for London's Great Ormond Street Hospital, a hospital for sick children, and is also an ambassador for UNICEF UK.

Early Life and First Steps in Modeling

Cat Deeley was born in West Bromwich, England. She grew up in nearby Birmingham. As a child, she attended Grove Vale Junior School and later Dartmouth High School, where she played the clarinet in a youth band.

When she was 14, Deeley entered a fashion competition for the BBC show The Clothes Show. She did so well that she reached the national finals. This led to her being signed as a model. She used the nickname "Cat" because it was shorter and easier for people to remember. In 1997, she decided to leave full-time modeling to try something new: television presenting.

Career in Television

Starting Out in the UK

Deeley's first big TV job was co-hosting the MTV music show Hitlist UK with her friend Edith Bowman. In 1998, she became a co-host of the Saturday morning children's show SMTV Live with Ant & Dec. The show was a huge hit, and Deeley became very popular. She also hosted the music chart show CD:UK until 2005.

After leaving children's TV, Deeley hosted several major shows in the UK. She presented the talent show Fame Academy on BBC One and later took over as the host of Stars in Their Eyes on ITV. She also hosted the The 2004 Brit Awards.

In 2005, she had a voice role in the UK version of the animated movie Robots, playing Loretta Geargrinder. She also appeared as herself in an episode of the comedy show Little Britain.

In 2006, Deeley's career took a new turn when she moved to the United States. She became the host of the American reality dance competition So You Think You Can Dance. The show was a massive success, and Deeley became a well-known face on American television. Her work on the show earned her five nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award, which is a major award for television excellence.

While in the U.S., she also hosted other shows, including Fox's New Year's Eve Special and the game show The Choice. She often appeared as a guest host on popular talk shows like Live with Regis and Kelly.

Deeley also tried acting. She played a celebrity medium named Camomile White in the TV series Deadbeat and appeared as herself in shows like Life's Too Short and House of Lies. She even voiced a cartoon version of herself in an episode of The Simpsons.

Returning to British TV

In 2020, Deeley reunited with Ant and Dec for a special show called The Story of SM:TV Live, which looked back at their famous children's programme. She also began guest presenting on shows like Lorraine and filling in for hosts on BBC Radio 2.

In February 2024, it was announced that Deeley would become a permanent co-presenter of ITV's popular daytime show, This Morning, alongside Ben Shephard.

Charity Work

Cat Deeley is dedicated to helping others. Since 2003, she has been a patron of Great Ormond Street Hospital, a famous children's hospital in London.

She is also a strong supporter of UNICEF, an organization that helps children around the world. In 2009, she was made a UNICEF UK ambassador. She has visited UNICEF projects in countries like the Philippines to see how they help children in need.

Personal Life

Deeley is married to Northern Irish comedian and television presenter Patrick Kielty. They got married in Rome in 2012 and have two sons together. After living in Los Angeles for many years, the family moved back to live in North London.
