Edith Eleanor Bowman (born in 1974) is a Scottish radio DJ and TV presenter. She is well-known for hosting many music shows. Edith worked at BBC Radio 1 until 2014. There, she presented shows like Colin and Edith and The Radio 1 Review. She has also hosted many TV shows about music and covered big music festivals. Since 2020, Edith has been the host of the yearly Scottish Music Awards.

Growing Up
Edith Bowman was born in 1974 in a town called Anstruther in Fife, Scotland. She went to secondary school at Waid Academy in Anstruther. After that, she studied Media and Communication at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh.
Her Media Career
TV Shows
Edith Bowman's first job on TV was as a news reader for MTV UK. She then hosted many shows for MTV. She co-presented Hitlist UK with Cat Deeley. They also hosted a travel show called Roadtripping for BBC Choice in 2002.
In 2002, Edith also worked on Channel 4's morning show RI:SE. In 2004, she co-hosted Teen Commandments for BBC Scotland. Edith also presented Top of the Pops many times, including the final weekly episode. She returned for the 2006 Christmas Special. In 2020, during the Coronavirus pandemic, she interviewed filmmaker Sofia Coppola for the BBC4 series Life Cinematic.
Edith has presented other music shows for Channel 4, such as Channel 4 Presents... and Evo Music Rooms. She also appeared on the children's art show SMart in 2007. She has covered big music festivals like Glastonbury, T in the Park, and Reading and Leeds Festival. She did this for both BBC Radio and TV.
On April 29, 2011, she was a reporter for BBC TV's coverage of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. In 2011, she narrated a documentary series called McFly on the Wall for Channel 5. In December 2021, Edith appeared on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip with fellow radio host Mark Radcliffe. In August 2024, Edith was a quarter-finalist on the nineteenth series of Celebrity MasterChef.
Radio Shows
From 2001 to 2002, Edith Bowman presented Hit Music Sunday with Cat Deeley on Capital London. On March 29, 2003, she joined Colin Murray to co-host Colin and Edith on BBC Radio 1. In April 2004, their show moved to weekday afternoons.
In August 2006, Edith became the only host of the afternoon show on BBC Radio 1. In September 2008, she returned to the station after having a baby. She first hosted the Sunday Morning Lie In. Then, on November 3, 2008, she returned to weekday afternoons.
In July 2009, Radio 1 changed its schedule. Edith moved to Weekend Breakfast. She felt she had done all she could with her previous shows. This move allowed her to create a new show. In February 2012, it was announced that Edith would be replaced on Weekend Breakfast. She then moved to Tuesday evenings to host The Review Show. Edith left weekend shows on April 1, 2012. However, she continued to work on other projects for the station. Her first Review Show was on March 26, 2013.
In November 2012, she started co-hosting a Saturday morning show on BBC Radio 6 Music with Adam Buxton. In June 2014, Radio 1 announced that The Review Show would end on September 1, 2014. This marked the end of Edith's time at the station.
In February 2016, she became the only solo female host of a breakfast show on commercial radio. This was for the launch of Virgin Radio UK on March 30. She left that program on September 29, 2017. Edith has also filled in for other presenters on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Radio 2. She has covered for Jo Whiley, Sara Cox, Gary Davies on Sounds of the 80s, and Fearne Cotton on Sounds of the 90s.
Since November 2024, Edith has hosted Cinematic Soundtracks on BBC Radio 3 Unwind.

Important Career Moments
In 2005, Edith presented BBC Scotland's coverage of the Live 8 event in Edinburgh. She also hosted the network's T in the Park programs. In 2005, she hosted the Q Awards live on BBC Radio 1 with Colin Murray. She also presented the BBC Three coverage of Glastonbury, T in the Park, and the Reading Festival with Colin Murray. She also hosted the TV coverage of the first Electric Proms with Zane Lowe. On July 7, 2007, she co-presented the BBC coverage of Live Earth.
After leaving Radio 1, Edith presented several special film shows for Channel 4. She also hosted Evo Music Rooms, a late-night music program for Channel 4. In 2011, she presented coverage of the T in the Park music festival for BBC Three. She also worked for BBC America as an entertainment presenter in 2014.
Charity Work
In May 2008, Edith Bowman supported the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer campaign. This campaign helps Breakthrough Breast Cancer. She worked alongside other famous people like comedian Alan Carr and singer Natalie Imbruglia.
From 2015 to 2017, Edith hosted the yearly Young Scot Awards.
Singing Talent
Edith Bowman's first TV appearance was on a talent show called The Big Break. She was 14 years old. She sang "Venus" but finished last in her part of the competition.
On March 11, 2005, she won the TV talent show Comic Relief Does Fame Academy. This was a music contest for charity. She sang "Champagne Supernova" with Jools Holland's band. Earlier in the show, she sang "Hanging on the Telephone" by Blondie.
Personal Life
Edith Bowman married Editors frontman Tom Smith in 2013. They have two sons. Their sons were born in 2008 and 2013.
