Alan Graham Carr (born 14 June 1976) is a famous English comedian, TV host, and writer. He became well-known in 2001 when he won the City Life Best Newcomer of the Year award and the BBC New Comedy Awards.
Alan Carr's career grew quickly, especially in the comedy scene in Manchester. He became famous for co-hosting The Friday Night Project (2006–2009) with Justin Lee Collins. After that, he hosted his own chat show, Alan Carr: Chatty Man (2009–2016). Since 2017, he has often been a team captain on the comedy show 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. In 2019, he joined the judging panel for the reality competition RuPaul's Drag Race UK.
Carr also hosted the radio show Going Out with Alan Carr on BBC Radio 2 from 2009 to 2012. He wrote an autobiography called Look Who It Is! in 2008. He has also performed three big stand-up comedy tours: Tooth Fairy Live (2007), Spexy Beast Live (2011), and Yap, Yap, Yap! (2015). Alan Graham Carr was born on 14 June 1976, in Weymouth, Dorset, England. He grew up mostly in Northampton. His father, Graham Carr, was a football manager for Northampton Town and a chief scout for Newcastle United. Alan also has a younger brother named Gary.
Alan Carr went to Weston Favell Upper School in Northampton. He later studied Drama and Theatre at Middlesex University, where he earned a degree.
After finishing university, Alan moved to Manchester in his early twenties to become a comedian. He worked in a call centre for five years while performing comedy in his free time. Eventually, he became a full-time comedian.
