Alan Graham Carr (born 14 June 1976) is a famous English comedian, TV host, and writer. He is known for his funny observations about everyday life. Alan became well-known in 2001 when he won the City Life Best Newcomer of the Year and the BBC New Comedy Awards.

He became very popular as the co-host of The Friday Night Project from 2006 to 2009. Later, he hosted his own comedy chat show, Alan Carr: Chatty Man, which ran from 2009 to 2016. Since 2017, Alan has often been a team captain on the comedy show 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. In 2019, he joined RuPaul's Drag Race UK as a judge.

Alan has also hosted radio shows, written a book, and performed stand-up comedy tours. He has won many awards, including three British Comedy Awards and two National Television Awards.

Alan Carr's Early Life and Journey

Alan Graham Carr was born on 14 June 1976 in Weymouth, Dorset, England. He grew up in Northampton with his parents, Christine and Graham Carr, and his younger brother, Gary. His father was a football manager and scout.

Alan went to Weston Favel High School in Northampton. He later studied Drama and Theatre at Middlesex University. After university, in his early 20s, Alan moved to Manchester. He wanted to become a comedian.

He worked in a call centre for five years while performing comedy in his free time. Eventually, he decided to become a full-time comedian.

Television and Film Appearances

Alan's early TV appearances included shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats in 2005. He became widely known when he co-hosted The Friday Night Project with Justin Lee Collins. This show ran from 2006 to 2009.

After that, Alan hosted his own game show, Alan Carr's Celebrity Ding Dong, from 2007 to 2009. His most famous show, Alan Carr: Chatty Man, was a comedy chat show that ran for 16 series from 2009 to 2016. He also hosted special Christmas episodes.

More recently, Alan has been a team captain on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown since 2017. He also became a judge on the popular reality competition RuPaul's Drag Race UK in 2019. Alan Carr started his radio career on BBC Radio 2. In 2009, he began hosting his own show called Going Out with Alan Carr. He co-hosted this show with Emma Forbes and later Melanie Sykes. He left the show in 2012 to focus on his TV work.

He has returned to BBC Radio 2 for special shows and to fill in for other presenters. From 2017 to 2020, he co-hosted a summer show called Summer Escapes with Melanie Sykes.
