Fearne Cotton, born on September 3, 1981, is a famous English TV and radio presenter, and also an author. She started her career in the late 1990s presenting shows for kids on channels like GMTV and CBBC.

Later, she hosted many popular TV shows. These included Top of the Pops and Love Island. Fearne was also a regular host for the Children in Need charity telethons. From 2008 to 2018, she was a team captain on the fun panel show Celebrity Juice.

In 2007, Fearne made history as the first regular female presenter of the Radio 1 Chart Show. She then got her very own show on BBC Radio 1 from 2009 to 2015. She later joined BBC Radio 2 in 2016.

Since 2018, Fearne has hosted Happy Place, a popular podcast. This podcast focuses on important topics like feeling good and mental health. She has also written several books, including self-help guides, children's stories, and healthy eating cookbooks.

Early life

Fearne Cotton was born in Northwood, London, a part of London, to Mick and Lyn Cotton. She has a younger brother named Jamie. Her dad was a signwriter for big events like Live Aid. Her mum worked in alternative therapy.

Fearne grew up in a nearby area called Eastcote. She went to Haydon School. She loves animals and is a pescetarian, meaning she eats fish but not other meat. Children's TV shows

Fearne started her TV career in 1996 when she was just 15 years old. She won a competition to present The Disney Club on GMTV. She continued with this show and its replacement, Diggit.

In 2000, she left to work on other shows for CITV. These included Draw Your Own Toons and Mouse, which helped kids learn about computers. In 2001, Fearne joined CBBC to host Eureka TV, a science show. From 2001 to 2003, she co-presented Finger Tips, an arts and crafts show. She also co-hosted Smile and The Saturday Show on CBBC. She even appeared in Only in America with her friend Reggie Yates. In 2015, Fearne returned to children's TV by voicing a Voice Trumpet in the new Teletubbies series.

ITV shows

In 2006, Fearne co-presented the second series of ITV's Love Island. In 2007, she hosted The Xtra Factor, a spin-off show for The X Factor. She hosted it for one series before moving on.

Also in 2007, Fearne co-hosted Holly & Fearne Go Dating with her friend Holly Willoughby. They tried to help single people find dates. From 2008, Fearne was a team captain on the comedy show Celebrity Juice. She took a short break in 2013 when she had her baby. She left the show in 2018.

Fearne has also hosted the Isle of Wight Festival coverage on ITV2. She hosted Fearne and... on ITV2 and The Nation's Favourite Number One Single. Since 2016, she has co-presented Fearne & Gok: Off The Rails with Gok Wan for ITVBe. In 2017, she was a guest presenter for five episodes of Lorraine.

BBC shows

In 2003, Fearne started presenting mainstream shows. She co-hosted Top of the Pops: Saturday (later Top of the Pops: Reloaded). In 2004, she moved to the main Top of the Pops show with Reggie Yates. She was one of the last regular presenters before the show ended in 2006. She also presented Christmas and New Year specials of Top of the Pops.

Fearne has hosted parts of the Red Nose Day telethon for Comic Relief many times. She has also presented many charity telethons for both Comic Relief and Children in Need. In 2005, she co-presented the BBC's coverage of Live 8 in Hyde Park. In 2008, she hosted a Strictly Come Dancing special for Children in Need.

In 2012, Fearne was one of the BBC's presenters for the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant. Some people had different opinions about the coverage. Fearne responded on social media, saying she loved her job and was good at it. She also guest presented The One Show on BBC One several times.

Other TV work

Fearne hosted the live eviction show for the Channel 5 reality series Make Me a Supermodel. She also hosted Sky1's talent show Must Be The Music in 2010.

Eurovision Song Contest

Fearne has presented parts of the BBC's coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2006, she read the United Kingdom's votes. In 2007, she co-hosted Making Your Mind Up 2007 with Terry Wogan. This show chose which song the UK would send to Eurovision. There was some confusion when they announced the winner, but Fearne made sure the correct winner was named. She also read the UK's votes at the main contest that year.

Radio career

BBC Radio 1

In September 2005, Fearne joined BBC Radio 1. She presented the Friday early morning slot with Reggie Yates. On October 14, 2007, Fearne and Reggie started presenting BBC Radio 1's Chart Show. Fearne became the first permanent female presenter of a BBC radio chart show.

On July 16, 2009, it was announced that Fearne would host BBC Radio 1's weekday mid-morning show. Her new show began on September 21, 2009. On February 27, 2015, she announced she was expecting her second child and would leave BBC Radio 1. Her last show was on May 22, 2015.

BBC Radio 2

Fearne joined BBC Radio 2 in July 2016. She filled in for Graham Norton and Ken Bruce on different occasions. In late 2018, Fearne also covered for Claudia Winkleman on Sundays. In 2019, she was the cover host for Zoe Ball during holidays. In March 2020, Fearne launched Sounds of the 90s on BBC Radio 2.

Other projects

In August 2017, Fearne worked with Mini Club, a children's clothing company. She created her own clothing line, which she shared on her social media. She also has clothing and homeware ranges with the online store Very.

In 2018, Fearne started her podcast called Happy Place. In this podcast, she interviews different famous people. The podcast focuses on topics like happiness and mental well-being.

Personal life

Fearne Cotton has several tattoos on her body. One of her most noticeable tattoos is a fern leaf on her right hip.

Fearne was married to Jesse Wood, who is the son of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood. In February 2013, she announced she had given birth to a son. Fearne and Jesse got married in July 2014. In September 2015, she announced the birth of their daughter. In December 2024, Fearne announced that she and Jesse Wood were separating.

Fearne is good friends with fellow TV presenter Holly Willoughby. They have co-presented several shows together. Fearne and Sarah Cawood were bridesmaids at Holly Willoughby's wedding. Fearne is a pescatarian and has also written a vegan cookbook. In December 2024, she shared that she had a benign jaw tumour.

Charity work

Fearne supports many charities. These include CoppaFeel!, Post Pals, Macmillan Cancer Support, Children in Need, and Red Nose Day.

In 2009, she climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with other celebrities like Gary Barlow and Cheryl Cole. Fearne and others experienced altitude sickness during the climb. She was in the first group to reach the top and helped raise £3.3 million for charity. Fearne also filmed a video for Comic Relief about malaria in Uganda. She visited a children's hospital there. Fearne also recorded her voice for the BT Speaking Clock to raise money for Comic Relief.
