Alexander Zane Reed Lowe (born in 1973) is a famous New Zealand radio DJ, live DJ, music producer, and television presenter. He is well-known for his work in music and radio.

Zane Lowe started his career in music, making and producing songs, and DJing in New Zealand. In 1997, he moved to the United Kingdom. He became very popular by hosting shows on XFM and MTV Europe (MTV Two). He also grew his DJ career by playing music before bands performed.

From 2003 to 2015, he had his own show on the big radio station BBC Radio 1. In 2015, Apple hired him to be the Creative Director for their new worldwide music station, Apple Music 1.

Early Career in Music

Zane Lowe was born in Auckland, New Zealand. He went to Auckland Grammar School. He also worked as a presenter on a local music TV station called Max TV.

In the early 1990s, Zane was part of a hip-hop group called Urban Disturbance. They had a popular song called "No Flint No Flame." He was also in a group called Breaks Co-Op. With this group, he released an electronic music album called Roofers in 1997. After that, he left New Zealand to travel and work on other projects. He later continued his music career in the UK.

Zane Lowe moved to the UK in 1997. He first worked at a music store called Record and Tape Exchange. Then, he got a chance to host a show on XFM, which led to him hosting XFM's Music Response. In 2003, he joined BBC Radio 1, a very popular radio station.

As a DJ, Zane Lowe has played music at many big festivals. These include Coachella, Glastonbury, and Bestival. He has also toured with famous artists like Skrillex and The Prodigy. He even opened shows for huge bands like Muse and Foo Fighters at their concerts at Wembley Stadium. Zane Lowe also helps manage the music for the Ibiza and Mallorca Rocks events.

Working at MTV

Zane Lowe began his TV career on MTV UK. He then moved to MTV2 Europe (now called MTV Rocks). He hosted shows like MTV News and Brand:New. From 2002 to 2015, he presented Gonzo, which was MTV2's main music show.

Zane Lowe's evening show on BBC Radio 1 was on air from 2003 to 2015. His show was very popular and featured special interviews called "Zane Lowe Meets." In these interviews, he talked to many famous musicians.

On February 15, 2015, it was announced that Zane Lowe would be leaving BBC Radio 1. He was moving to work for Apple to help start a new radio station. His last show on BBC Radio 1 was on March 5, 2015.

Joining Apple Music 1

At Apple's 2015 WWDC Keynote event, Zane Lowe was introduced as one of the main DJs for Apple Music 1. This is a global radio station that is part of Apple Music. He also hosted an Apple Music show called Planet of the Apps.

Zane Lowe has won many awards for his work in radio. He won the NME Award for Best Radio Show four years in a row, from 2005 to 2008.
