The duo is from London. They formed their group in 2003 after meeting at university in Manchester. Since then, Chase & Status have released five studio albums. They have also worked with many famous artists like Plan B, CeeLo Green, Rihanna, Example, and Tinie Tempah. They also run their own music company called MTA Records.

History of Chase & Status
Early Years: 2003–2009
Saul Milton (Chase) and Will Kennard (Status) first met in London through a friend. They met again when they were university students in Manchester. Kennard studied History of Art at the University of Manchester. Milton studied English and Humanities at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Kennard decided to leave university to focus on a music career. Milton, even though he spent a lot of time on music, still did very well in his studies. The duo shared that bands like the Prodigy and Orbital really inspired their music. They also loved the early jungle and drum & bass music scenes.
Between 2007 and 2009, Chase & Status had three number one songs on the UK Dance Singles Chart. These included "Hurt You" / "Sell Me Your Soul" in 2007 and "Take Me Away" / "Judgement (Informer)" in 2008. On October 5, 2008, their song "Pieces" with Plan B reached number 70 on the UK Singles Chart and number one on the UK Dance Singles Chart. In 2009, their song "Against All Odds" with UK rapper Kano reached number 45.
Second Album: No More Idols (2009–2011)
In November 2009, Chase & Status got into the top forty of the UK Singles Chart for the first time with "End Credits". This song, released on November 2, 2009, featured Plan B and reached number nine on the UK Singles Chart.
They released "Let You Go" on August 15, 2010. This was the second song from their second album, No More Idols. The song featured Mali and reached number eleven on the UK Singles Chart. This was their second song in a row to hit the Top Forty. "Hypest Hype" (with Tempa T) was the third song from the album. It was given away for free online in November 2010, so it didn't appear on the charts.
The fourth song from the album was "Blind Faith", featuring singer Liam Bailey. It came out in January 2011. Other popular songs from the album include "Time" (with Delilah), "Hitz" (with Tinie Tempah), and "Flashing Lights" (with Sub Focus and Takura). The album also had the song "Heavy" with Dizzee Rascal. No More Idols reached number two on the UK Albums Chart. It quickly sold enough copies to be certified 'gold' by the British Phonographic Industry.
Third Album: Brand New Machine (2012–2014)
Their third album, Brand New Machine, had a different, darker sound compared to their earlier albums. In 2012, the duo performed at Download Festival. This festival is usually for rock and metal bands, so some fans were surprised. However, Chase & Status were still very popular with the crowd. They also performed as a main act at the South West Four electronic music festival in London.
A live CD/DVD called Chase & Status: Live at Brixton was released on April 2, 2012. It featured performances with Tinie Tempah, Liam Bailey, Mali, and Delilah. On October 15, 2012, they released "Big Man" with Liam Bailey as a free download on their website. The music video for "Big Man" was also released that day.
In 2013, Chase & Status were announced as main performers for big festivals like Roskilde Festival and Reading and Leeds Festival. On June 4, 2013, the first song from the new album, "Lost & Not Found" featuring Louis M^ttrs, was released. On July 17, 2013, their music company, MTA Records, announced that new artist Elli Ingram would join them on tour and be on the album.
On July 26, 2013, they announced the album title: Brand New Machine. The album's second song, "Count On Me" featuring Moko, was first played on B.Traits' BBC Radio 1 show. "Count On Me" was released on September 29, and the album came out on October 7. At Reading Festival in August 2013, the show had to be paused briefly for safety reasons because the crowd was very excited at the front. The show then continued successfully. They also performed in India for the first time in October 2013.
In July 2014, they were a main act at the Global Gathering festival. Later in 2014, Chase & Status, along with Shy FX, David Rodigan, and MC Rage, formed a group called Rebel Sound for the Red Bull Culture Clash event. They won the competition against other groups. In November 2014, they were main acts at The Big Reunion, a large indoor winter music festival in the UK.
London Bars EP (2015)
While working on their fourth album, Chase & Status started releasing a new grime or British hip hop song every week. These four songs were put together as the London Bars EP, released on December 4, 2015. It was also available on special vinyl records for Record Store Day in 2016.
Fourth Album: Tribe (2016–2017)
The duo released their fourth studio album, Tribe, on August 18, 2017. This album featured collaborations with artists like Craig David, Emeli Sandé, Shy FX, and Slaves. Tribe had much more drum and bass music, bringing the band back to the sound that first made them famous. However, they also tried out other styles, like UK garage in "Reload" with Craig David and electronic rock in "Control" with the British punk band Slaves.
Remixes and Productions
Chase & Status have also created remixes for other artists. They made a remix of "Invaders Must Die" for the Prodigy. In Australia, this remix reached number fifty-three on the Aria Singles Chart and number seven on the Aria Dance Chart.
They have also produced many songs for Rihanna on her albums Rated R, Talk That Talk, and "Unapologetic". They also produced "R.I.P", a number one hit in the UK for British singer Rita Ora. They helped produce a song on Alexandra Burke's album Overcome.
Other remixes they've done include Black Canvas' "Broken Dreams", Dizzee Rascal's "Sirens", Nneka's "Heartbeat", and Capleton's "Who Dem" (which they renamed "Duppy Man"). Chase & Status also produced songs for singer Example on his albums Won't Go Quietly ("Sick Note") and Playing in the Shadows ("Playing in the Shadows"). They also produced Example's unreleased song "Pink Notes" for his mixtape The Credit Munch Redux.
