Jacob Banks is a singer and songwriter born in Nigeria. He grew up in England, in a city called Birmingham. Jacob is known for his amazing voice and for mixing different music styles like soul, R&B, and hip hop. He won two big music competitions in 2012: the MOBO UnSung regional competition and the Adidas "Are You In" music competition. Today, Jacob Banks works with a major American record company called Interscope Records.

Jacob Banks' Music Journey
Starting His Career and First Songs
Jacob Banks began his music journey in 2012. In October 2012, he recorded his first collection of songs, called an EP (Extended Play), titled The Monologue. It was released in January 2013. One of the songs from this EP, "Worthy," became very popular. A famous DJ from BBC Radio 1, Zane Lowe, played it on his show, calling it his "Next Hype" record. Other radio stations also played the song a lot.
In April 2013, Jacob had his very first concert in London. He also got to open for the famous singer Emeli Sande on her UK tour that same month.
Working with Other Artists
Jacob Banks has worked with many other talented musicians. He sang on Wretch 32's song "Doing OK" and also on "Alive" by the group Chase and Status. He even toured with Chase & Status in 2013.
In 2014, Jacob released a song called "I Can't Wait" with a group called All About She. He has also collaborated with other artists like Bondax and Plan B.
New Music and Success
On July 21, 2015, Jacob Banks released his second EP, named The Paradox. This EP included a song called "Monster" with rapper Avelino.
In 2016, Jacob was featured on a song called "What Do You Love" by a Norwegian music team named Seeb. This song became very popular in Norway, reaching number 2 on their music charts.
In March 2017, Jacob released a special two-part music video for his song "Unholy War." He wrote and helped direct the video himself. This song was part of his EP, The Boy Who Cried Freedom.
In November 2018, Jacob Banks released his album called Village. This album quickly became number one on Spotify's list of new and upcoming albums, showing how much people loved his new music.
