Infanta Catarina (1436–1463) was a Portuguese princess. She was the daughter of King Edward of Portugal and his wife, Queen Eleanor of Aragon.
Life of Infanta Catarina
Catarina was born in Lisbon, Portugal, on November 26, 1436. People thought she was ambitious, smart, and strong-willed, just like her sisters Joan and Eleanor.
She was supposed to marry Charles IV of Navarre. However, he passed away before their wedding could happen. Her brother had already arranged marriages for her other sisters. So, he did not need to arrange another marriage for Catarina.
Because of this, Catarina decided to live a religious life. She joined the Convent of Saint Claire. She was a very educated princess. She wrote many books about good behavior and religious topics.
Catarina died on June 17, 1463. She is buried in Lisbon at the Carmo Convent.
