Catherine Tyson (born on June 12, 1965) is a talented English actress. She is well-known for her amazing acting in films and TV shows.

Cathy won a special award called the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie Mona Lisa (1986). This role also earned her nominations for the Golden Globes and BAFTA Awards. She has also starred in other popular works like The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988), Priest (1994), and the TV series Band of Gold (1995–1997).

More recently, in 2022, she won the British Academy Television Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the TV film Help.

Cathy Tyson was born in Kingston-upon-Thames, England, on June 12, 1965. Her mother was a social worker from England, and her father was a lawyer from Trinidad.

When Cathy was two years old, her family moved to Liverpool, where she grew up. She went to St Winifred's School. As a teenager, she joined the Everyman Youth Theatre in Liverpool. She loved acting so much that she left college at 17 to focus on her acting career.

Cathy's first movie role was in Mona Lisa (1986). She played Simone, a stylish character, and her acting was highly praised by critics.

She continued to appear in many films, including Business as Usual (1987), The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988), The Lost Language of Cranes (1991), Priest (1994), and The Old Man Who Read Love Stories (2001).

In 2024, Cathy played Sam in Luna Carmoon's movie Hoard. She also appeared as Mother Superior Raquella Berto-Anirul in Dune: Prophecy and as Alecto, one of the Furies, in the TV series Kaos. Towards the end of 2024, she performed as Mrs Higgins in the musical My Fair Lady at the Curve Theatre in Leicester.

Helping Others: Charity Work

Cathy Tyson is also involved in charity work. She has hosted events for the Sick Children's Trust. This charity helps families with sick children. She hosted events in 2007 and 2008 to support Eckersley House, which is a special home for families near a hospital in Leeds.
