Cats of the Clans is a special guide book from the super popular Warriors book series. It's filled with amazing stories and pictures of the most famous cats from the Clans. Imagine hearing these tales from a wise, mysterious cat named Rock, who shares them with three young StarClan kittens. This book has been a huge hit, selling over 150,000 copies!

What's the Story About?

A Journey with Three Lost Kits

The book starts with a chapter called "Three Lost Travelers." In this story, three young kittens named Mosskit, Adderkit, and Blossomkit find themselves far from their home in StarClan. StarClan is the special place where Clan cats go after they die.

They somehow end up at the home of Rock. Rock is a very mysterious, hairless, and blind cat. He tells the kits that they didn't live long enough to learn much about their Clanmates. So, he offers to answer their questions about the cats they left behind. Rock describes himself as "the keeper of the world beneath the one your former Clanmates walk."

Discovering Famous Clan Cats

The rest of the book is full of Rock's amazing stories. He tells the kits all about each of the different Clans. He also describes many important cats from those Clans. Rock shares major events from the cats' lives. He often explains why a cat is special or why they acted the way they did.

You'll also find stories about a few cats from other groups. These include the Tribe of Rushing Water, SkyClan, and even BloodClan. Plus, there are tales about some loners and kittypets.

Even though Rock says he's neutral, the book does focus more on ThunderClan cats. This makes sense because, when the book came out, ThunderClan was the main Clan in the Warriors series.

How the Book Is Set Up

Narrator and Illustrations

All the stories in Cats of the Clans are told from Rock's point of view. He is talking directly to the three kits, often mentioning them as he tells his tales.

The book begins with an introduction chapter that is two pages long. Each Clan also gets its own two-page introduction. After that, each important cat (or group of cats) has a two-page spread. The text describing the cat is on the left page. A beautiful, full-color picture of the cat is on the right page.

Who Are the Featured Cats?

Here's a list of the Clans and some of the cats you'll learn about in the book:

The book also includes four maps. These maps show the forest and lake territories. You'll also find an excerpt from the book Eclipse.

Small Mistakes in the Book

Sometimes, even great books can have tiny errors. Cats of the Clans has a few small mistakes:

  • The collars of Scourge and Bone from BloodClan are shown in the wrong colors. Scourge's collar should be purple, and Bone's should be red.
  • Scourge is shown as a black-and-orange cat in the book. But he is actually a pure black cat.
  • The book incorrectly says that Blackfoot was Nightstar's deputy. Cinderfur was actually Nightstar's deputy. Blackfoot served as Brokenstar's deputy instead.
