The Cattaraugus Reservation is a special area of land in New York, United States. It is home to many people from the Seneca Nation. The Seneca Nation is a federally recognized Native American tribe. They are one of the original Five Nations of the Iroquois Confederacy.

This reservation is mostly in Erie County. Smaller parts are in Cattaraugus County and Chautauqua County. About 314 people lived here in 2010. The town of Versailles is a main community near the reservation's southern edge.

Geography of Cattaraugus Reservation

The Cattaraugus Reservation covers about 6 square miles (15.5 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. A small part, about 0.2 square miles (0.6 square kilometers), is water.

The Cattaraugus Creek flows right through the middle of the reservation. Also, Lake Erie forms part of its western border.

In 2000, there were 388 people living on the reservation. Most of the people living here, about 95%, are Native American. A smaller number, about 4%, are White. Some people, about 4%, are also of Hispanic or Latino background.

There were 127 households on the reservation. A household means a group of people living together. About half of these households had children under 18 living with them. The average household had about three people.

The population includes people of all ages. About 36% of the people were under 18 years old. About 10% were between 18 and 24. Many people, about 31%, were between 25 and 44 years old.
