Cawy Bottling Company makes popular sodas. It started in Cuba in 1948. In 1959, the government in Cuba took control of many businesses, including Cawy. Because of this, two people who worked for Cawy moved to the United States. They started the company again in 1962. At first, they made lemon-lime soda. Later, they added unique tropical flavors like Materva, which is a soda flavored with yerba mate.
Popular Drinks from Cawy
Cawy makes many different kinds of sodas. Some of their well-known brands include lemon-lime soda, Materva, Jupiña, Champ's Cola, and Quinabeer. Jupiña is the company's most popular drink.
Other sodas from Cawy are Cawy Watermelon, Coco Solo (a coconut soda), Fruti Cola (a red cola), and Malta Cawy. They also make Trimalta, Rica Malt Tonic, and Rica Orange Mandarin.
Jupiña Soda
Jupiña (say it: hoo-PEEN-yah) is a sweet soda. It tastes like pineapple. The name "Jupiña" comes from a shorter way of saying "Jugo de Piña." This means "pineapple juice" in Spanish.
Quinabeer Soda
Quinabeer is another fizzy drink from Cawy. It is very sweet. It has hints of orange and cherry flavors. Some people say it tastes like a mix of cream soda and cola. Others describe it as being like root beer, but even sweeter.
Quinabeer cans show a drawing of a strong arm with a flexing bicep. This figure is called "Champion George Prince." You can also see this same strong figure on Cawy's Champ's Cola. Champ's Cola is a lighter version of Quinabeer.
Where Cawy Drinks Are Sold
Cawy's sodas are sold in many places. You can find them in the United States and Canada. They are also sold in Central America and Spain.
