Cayman Airways is like the national airline of the Cayman Islands. It's based in Grand Cayman, which is the biggest island. Grand Cayman is also where its main office and biggest airport hub are located. A "hub" is like a main station where many flights come and go.
A Look Back: History of Cayman Airways
Cayman Airways began its flights on August 7, 1968. Their very first airplane was a Douglas DC-3. In 1972, they made their first international charter flight. This special flight went to Miami International Airport in the United States.
Six years later, in 1978, Cayman Airways got its first jet airplane. This was a BAC 1-11. Jet planes are much faster than older propeller planes. By 2015, the airline had a fleet of 5 airplanes.
