Discovering Cebolla's Past
How Cebolla Got Its Name
Cebolla was first settled a long time ago, around the year 1800. The name "Cebolla" comes from the Spanish word for "onion." The valley where Cebolla is located was full of wild onions. Sheep that grazed there loved to eat these onions. Because of this, the shepherds who cared for the sheep called the area "El Valle de Cebolla," which means "The Valley of the Onion."
The Rio Cebolla
A river called the Rio Cebolla flows right through the village. Rivers are often important for communities. They provide water and can shape the land around them.
