Charles Cecil Dennis Jr. (born February 21, 1931 – died April 22, 1980) was an important political leader from Liberia. He worked as the Minister of Foreign Affairs for President William Tolbert. He held this job from 1973 until a big change in government happened in 1980.
This change was called the 1980 Liberian coup d'état, led by Samuel Doe. Charles Cecil Dennis Jr. died during this time, along with other government officials.

Biography
Charles Cecil Dennis Jr. was born in Montserrado County, Liberia, on February 21, 1931. He started his education in Liberia at the College of West Africa.
Later, he moved to the United States to continue his studies. He went to Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. In 1954, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He also joined the Beta chapter of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity there.
After Lincoln University, he studied law at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. When he finished his studies, he became a lawyer in Liberia.
In 1960, Mr. Dennis started working for the Liberian government. He became the director of the Legislative Drafting Service for the Liberian Senate. This job involved helping to write new laws.
In 1965, he opened his own law firm in Monrovia, Liberia's capital city. In the same year, he also became a professor at the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law at the University of Liberia.
In 1973, Charles Cecil Dennis Jr. was given a very important job. He was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. This meant he was in charge of Liberia's relationships with other countries. He kept this role until he died in 1980.
He died on April 22, 1980, in Monrovia, during a major political event in Liberia. Several other former government officials also died at that time. These included Frank E. Tolbert, who was President Tolbert's brother, and James A. A. Pierre, who was the Chief Justice.
Legacy
Charles Cecil Dennis Jr. is remembered in Liberia. The C. Cecil Dennis Jr. Auditorium is named in his honor. This auditorium is part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Monrovia.
In 2013, Lincoln University gave Cecil Dennis an honorary degree. This was a special award given after his death. His wife, Agnes Cooper Dennis, accepted the award for him.
