Celina Jaitly (born on November 24, 1981) is an Indian actress and a winner of beauty pageants. She is mostly known for her work in Hindi cinema, also called Bollywood. Celina won the title of Femina Miss India in 2001. She then competed in the Miss Universe 2001 contest, where she finished as the 4th runner-up. Her first movie was the thriller Janasheen in 2003.

Celina Jaitly's Early Life
Celina Jaitly was born in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India. Her father, Colonel V. K. Jaitly, was a Punjabi Hindu in the Indian Army. Her mother, Meeta, was an Afghan Hindu and a nurse in the army. Celina also has a brother who serves in the army.
As a child, Celina wanted to join the army, just like her father. She thought about becoming a pilot or a doctor. Because her father was often transferred, Celina spent her childhood moving to different cities and towns across India. She studied in more than twelve different schools. She attended City Montessori School in Lucknow and also studied in Berhampur, Odisha. She spent a lot of time in Kolkata, West Bengal, during her college years. Her family now lives in Mhow.
Celina earned a degree in commerce from Indira Gandhi National Open University. After finishing college, she worked for a short time at a cell phone company.
Celina Jaitly's Career Journey
Starting Out: 2001 to 2004
Celina began her career working in marketing for a mobile phone company in Kolkata. Later, she decided to enter a local beauty contest. She won the Femina Miss India title in 2001. She also received other awards like Miss Margo Beautiful Skin and Indiatimes Surfer's Choice. After winning, she represented India at the Miss Universe 2001 contest, where she placed as the 4th runner-up.
In 2001, Celina appeared in the very popular music video "Oh Kehri" by Jazzy B. She also featured in music videos for the band Bombay Vikings.
In 2003, Celina made her first movie appearance in Feroz Khan's Janasheen. This movie did fairly well at the box office in India. For her second movie, she played a main role alongside Sunny Deol in Khel. However, this film was not very popular and did not earn much money.
In 2004, Celina decided not to take the main role in the movie Julie. She explained that she only takes on roles that she feels good about. In the same year, Celina appeared in the Telugu movie Suryam with Vishnu Manchu.
Growing as an Actress: 2005 to 2008
In 2005, Celina played the role of Preeti, an air hostess, in the movie Silsiilay, directed by Khalid Mohamed. Critics liked this movie. Rediff.com praised her performance in the song "Belibaas." She then played Sanjana in No Entry. This film was well-liked by critics and became a big success, earning over 840.9 million Indian Rupees.
The next year, Celina acted in Deepak Tijori's comedy Tom, Dick, and Harry. This movie also did well at the box office, earning over 250.7 million Indian Rupees. She then appeared in Apna Sapna Money Money, directed by Sangeeth. While reviews for this movie were mixed, it was a financial success, earning 390.4 million Indian Rupees. In 2006, Celina Jaitly was also seen in the music video for the hit Indian song "Zara Nazron Se Kehdo" by Bombay Vikings.
In 2007, Celina starred in Red: The Dark Side, directed by Vikram Bhatt, alongside Aftab Shivdasani. Her last movie of 2007 was Suneel Darshan's comedy Shakalaka Boom Boom, which featured Bobby Deol, Upen Patel, and Kangana Ranaut. This movie did moderately well at the box office but received poor reviews from critics.
In 2008, she had a supporting role in Golmaal Returns. This movie received mixed reviews but was a financial success, earning over 660.9 million Indian Rupees. Celina's acting was praised, with critic Taran Adarsh saying that "Celina stays on your mind even after the show is over."
Recent Movies: 2009 to Present
Between 2009 and 2010, Celina starred in three movies: Paying Guests, Accident on Hill Road, and Hello Darling. All of these films were not very successful with critics or at the box office.
In 2011, Celina had two main roles. Her first was in Anees Bazmee's Thank You, a romantic comedy. Critics did not like this movie much, but it was a commercial success, earning over 950.6 million Indian Rupees. She then appeared in Shrimathi, a Kannada film directed by Ravi Kumar. This movie also became a commercial success.
There were talks in 2011 that Celina Jaitly might play a Persian princess in a movie called Quest of Scheherezade. It was said that actors Sean Connery and Orlando Bloom might also be in the film, directed by Ken Khan. However, this has not been confirmed yet.
Celina Jaitly's Personal Life
Celina Jaitly is married to Peter Haag, an entrepreneur and hotel owner from Austria. They welcomed twin boys in March 2012. In 2017, Celina gave birth to another set of twin boys, but sadly, one of them passed away due to a heart problem.
Celina currently lives between Austria, Singapore, and Dubai. She travels for her movie work and for promoting different brands around the world.
